French births are arranged by Department.

From http://www.cyndislist.com/france/bmd/

Association Généalogique des Hautes-Alpes

Searchable indexed transcription of birth, marriage, and other civil records for Haute-Alpes department, Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur, France. Free (paid membership in the society is available). In French.
...

Leads you to

http://www.agha.fr/

Naissances = Births

Can't spot anything, but may be the spelling is a problem, or there was no compulsion to register births, easily avoided if you were a 'foreigner'?

I cannot find him or his sister Emily who is also stated to have been born in France. Nothing on IGI or members submissions....

Hi sorry for delay
George married Margaret Bevan. early years in Tonbridge, 1891 was in Sevenoaks, died Eynsford - all Kent. I dont think I have seen the war records so dont know if it is the same one but have him dying in 1915 from the death records?

So Bossey is a place?

The name is coming out as Vinall - Vinal - Vinatt and even Newall on the 1901 census where George and his wife Margaret have 9 children. Again, is this the correct George as there is some confusion with another George Vinall born Cranbrook 1858 son of Thomas and Phoebe!!!

Looking at the original census, it looks like Bossey, France (in south-east France)

There is George Vinall on Ancestry.com married to Margaret Bevan. Also war records for 1914-1919 states he died 28 sept 1915 Kent served France/Flanders. Is this the same person as your George Vinall only it states he was born in Cranbrook, Kent???

Has anyone got access to French birth records?
I have George Vinall born in 1856 Bossers, France. (I have looked up Bossers on the internet and it appears it could mean Traveller or worker?) or Bossers could be a place!!
George is the son of Thomas Vinall and Elizabeth Fishenden who married in Tonbridge, Kent in 1851. When they returned from France they lived in Sevenoaks.
On census Thomas is a Sawyer.
