How do I find my half brother who(according to family gossip) was sent to canada at the age of 9 sometime before 1932. I am now 70 so it may be his children I am looking for! He may have been called Arthur or Edwin Midgley |

Hi Val - You can claim for the medal, if you can prove next of kin. I did this for my father's medal in November 2012. Had a card to fill in to send to the m.o.d. and i should receive the medal in 3mths - 6mths time. |

I think all medals were automatically sent to recipients after WW1 but not after WW2 which is why they can be claimed now. My husband and I have our grandfathers' medals from WW1 but had to send for our fathers' from WW2. |

You can only obtain WW2 and later medals, only if they weren't claimed. |

If your father's medals were never claimed the next of kin can send for them. I sent for my father's and my husband did the same with his father's. I don't know about grandfathers' or further back. I'll send you details if you want them. |

If they didn't hand them down through the family, I doubt very much that you can. |
