Hi Chris Ho :)

Thanks for the info, I do already have his record, it's what happened after his youngest child was born, frustrating man that he is!

Thanks again though,

Lisa

I'm not sure I'll ever get to the bottom of this one, he was in the Navy and there aren't too many Thomas Povers around so it could be him ...back on my 'lost the paper trail' for him I think?

Thanks argyllgran, just seen your update and think I need some coffee!lol,

Thank you for your help and time,
Lisa

There's also this:

New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922 about Thomas Pover
Name: Thomas Pover
Port of Departure: Brisbane
Port of Arrival: Sydney, New South Wales
Voyage Arrival Date: 11 May 1882
Vessel Name: Victoria
Origin Location: British

No age given. He's a trimmer, not a passenger.

Or this:

New South Wales, Australia, Unassisted Immigrant Passenger Lists, 1826-1922 about Thos Pover
Name: Thos Pover
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1846
Age: 38
Port of Departure: Melbourne
Port of Arrival: Sydney, New South Wales
Voyage Arrival Date: 23 Sep 1884
Vessel Name: Gunga
Origin Location: British

This one's a fireman. The age is wrong, but you never know.

He's not a passenger - he's an able seaman on the ship.
So there's no guarantee that he stayed in Australia - chances are he went on with the ship.

Hi, hoping someone with world wide membership wouldn't mind having a look at the records for Thomas Pover or T Pover on the unassisted passenger lists to New South Wales please.
Thomas John Pover was born in 1839 in East Sussex, I have him up to and including the 1861 census when he was in Corfu Roads on HMS Terrible, he married, had children and from c 1867 he disappears leaving his wife and children in Falmouth, Cornwall. Mum dies and the youngest two children are in the workhouse by 1881. Looked for this man for years...rumour in the family was he bug----d off to Australia?Maybe there is some truth in it, I certainly cannot find him.

Any help in what happened to this man is more than appreciated.
