	As the birth was late in December have you looked in the next quarter ie Jan to March 1923 Have you got his marriage cert for the name of his father ?

	I presume you got his date of birth from the death entry Name: George Richard Hill Birth Date: 28 Dec 1922 Date of Registration: May 1987 Age at Death: 64 Registration district: Lambeth Inferred County: London Volume: 14 Page: 15

	http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp You need to register first Certs cost £9.25 When you have found the entries on FreeBMD keep a note of the details as you will need to enter them when ordering

	You don't need to pay for the birth cert to find out his mother's name The marriage of his parents is on freebmd................ Buying certs is often the only way to prove info, but in this case, the MMN is sufficiently unusual for that not to be necessary
