Hi, I'm trying to trace my great grand mothers relatives, I believe they originate in Scotland. Her name is Grace Forrest born around 1838 her father was William Forrest (engraver).She married my G'grand father (William Lamb) in 1863 in Manchester and gives her age as 29 - (birth year 1834)- but this does not align with her death cert which gives her birth year as 1838.

I suspect she has identified the correct girl
Same couple had a daughter named Catherine Jane Forrest baptised in St Vigeans in 1834

Thanks for all your responses, Grace and husband William did live and die in Bromely St. Leonard- Bow, as identified, William d.1891 and Grace 1912. Also, I have just received a copy of the marriage cert. and it gives profession of father as engraver ? The Ancestry marriage info (I don't have access) given by Lancashireann which states engineer is interesting as it ties in with some of the other later info.also this is the correct marriage data as everything aligns except the fathers proffession which could easily have been written wrongly.

Forgot to add that they had one child Charles Henry Lamb b. 1873

maybe someone else with ancestry could check but I am fairly certain that the original image reads engineer on that marriage

Thanks Anne for confirmation of profession. The facts seem to align namely the birth place -Arbroath- and given location on death cert - Dundee- are not far apart.Also 1851 census suggests that Margaret Towns is her sister (married), the given ages -birth, census and marriage don't align but ??Is it possible to determine any marriage info for William Forest and Ann Roy if they were married ? As posted above the marriage banns for William Forrest and Ann Roy were read in both Kinross and Midlothian on 13 Jun 1830. ( Found on Family search)
Marriage banns were often read in the parishes of both the bride and groom, but very rarely will it say where and when the marriage actually took place.
It was however, more often in the Brides home parish.
The OPR entries should say who lived where... Scotland's People will have these.

William F, Grace R and Catherine J were all definitely their children, and it looks like they moved around.
Williams birth registered in Manchester 1832, Grace and Catherine in Angus 1834 and 1835, and all found in Sheffield at 1841.
After the marriage in Midlothian or Kinrosss , - they seem to move to Manchester- Angus- Sheffield
Any children born within the marriage would not be over 11yrs at 1841, therefore assuming the older ones are his children, it isuggests that William was married before. Margaret and Elizabeth Forrest would therefore have a different mother.
