Hi Susanne

A mangler was someone who used a mangle which was a press for removing water from clothes when they had been washed. So he would be working in the laundry. I can remember using a mangle when I was a child.

The above two are our Gt grandparents. Found on the 1881 census James and Sarah born Westminster she was 48yrs and he 46yrs and they lived at 13 Evelyn terrace Richmond. all children born Richmond. Children william, Henry, Alfred, Elizabeth, Arthur, Frederick, Amy.Son Alfred born 1870. was a mangler at Buckingham Palace during Queen Victoria,s reign we have no idea what that is. Apart from Alfred we cant find anything on this family.
