This is the WW1 record of the John James Gunn born in 1892:

Residence: 48 Grange Road ??, Jarrow
Document Year: 1914
Regimental Number: 17218
Regiment Name: Yorkshire Regt
Number of images: 22

Only partial records exist and unfortunately no next of kin details showing. This man received a gunshot wound to his left ankle/foot in 1915 and was discharged. He was awarded an army pension of 12/6d per week.

He would have been a little old for WW2. If you meant WW1 there are records on Ancestry. Sorry I don't have a sub, or I would look them up for you.

WW2 records are not yet in the public domain.

Was he James John Gunn as in your title or John James Gunn as in your text?

There does not appear to be a birth registered under either name in South Shields in 1898 but there was a Plain John Gunn birth registered there in 1897.

can anyone find any records for James Gunn posably enrolled in the sea forth highlanders but not sure he was born in south shields in 1897 an only son his father died at sea in 1898 his mother was called Christina Raymond Burdon
