Just gone through the 1841 Census again and there's a Abraham Summerfield b. 1832 and he is in Grove House Brixton as a pauper. I think this maybe my man. What would be the next step to finding his parents ?

I think we have jumped on to a different family line. I have traced the Summerfields back to Abraham HENRY Summerfield b.c. 1832 and know this to be the family line. So this leads me to think that the Abraham Summerfield m. Sarah Hall is not my line.......if their son is Abraham David.

Yeaph.......I will have a look myself for any census dates for this Abraham b.1807..............his son Abraham b. 1832 ish started to used his middle name about the 1871 census.............so the family may be into named changes............another branch of the family were changing their names........will keep looking.

We now know his wife is Sarah. I found this Abraham Summerfield in the Old Bailey Records 1825. He did time for stealing boots and shoes. The age and proffessions matched. I've just found his father and mother alive in 1841 but no idea of where the family came from.

thanks for reply..........Some answers: 1841 census he's married with three children one being another Abraham aged 5 but ink so faint can't see other names; might be a Susan ?aged 8. but could be Sarah.....and got a feeling his age is rounded down to 30 from 34 (which is what they did in that census). Yes, your right about the name Abraham Summerfield......... I'm 99% sure this is the one.Not sure where born but it was about 1807. what I was hoping to find out is if he was descended from German stock.
