under search then search trees

there are 2 members who have john morrison born kyloe about 1878 in their trees

you could contact them to see if they have any info

You really need that birth cert. Susan.

It could be that his mother was not married and he made up a name for his father, or, It could be that his mother was the 'Morrison' and maybe, in view of his middle name, his father could have been a William 'Scott' ???

The birth cert would at least give you his mother's details and an address where he was born.

Hi sorry I didn't respond to all your kind researching. Can't believe it's been over 3 years. My mum took I'll at that point and she seemed to lose interest in her research at that time.
Unfortunately she passed away this year and I am now trying to trace family by myself. I still am having no luck finding a birth certificate for John or anything much on his father William

Thank you all for your help. I had found the 1881 census which I thought was correct but struggling to piece together.
He always said that his Father was called William and was a coachman. Which is the same as George Morrison.
I will try and find his birth certificate online.
Thanks again all. The help is much appreciated as we have very little information about John before he married Ann Briggs.

It might be that John had no idea who his Father was and the name William was added just to "Save Face"......i think you will need to purchase a copy of his birth certificate Susan to find out who his parents were.

The 1891 census states Margaret was born in Berwick too!!

Looking at the image of the 1871 census.........George is actually age 1

It possibly states that Margaret is "Unmarried" too?

Closest I'm getting - ages out in some cases.

Hi. Helping my mum search for her Grandfather. He was John Scott Morrison born in 1878(we think). He married Ann Briggs in1898, Northumberland. We are unable to trace his parents. Father is William Morrison but noted as deceased on marriage certificate. Mother not mentioned.
Mum was told he was brought up by his Gran...no name that we know of but I have found a John Morrison on 1881 census and head of household is older lady.
I am hoping that someone can help us
