Thanks Kath - that's what I believe is the case. I cannot find anything further about them though. A distant cousin once mentioned to me that we had relatives in the States so I wondered if at some stage she had followed her daughter to America.

No I am not sure that her second husband was William Cook. She was born in Cornwall and I believe her first husband, William Ablett died in Cornwall in 1916 although they had lived in Essex.

There is more than one marriage for the name Margaret Ablett after 1916. Are you certain that her second husband was William Cook?

My grandfather's sister, Margaret Stevens, married William Ablett, in 1909 in Cornwall and they had one daughter, Irene, born in 1911 in Romford, Essex . I understand that William Ablett died in 1916 and that Margaret, I think, remarried William Cook in 1921 (?).
Margaret's daughter, Irene, married Leslie Kimpton and they emigrated to USA.
I am trying to find out what happened to Margaret and whether she ultimately followed her daughter to the States?
