Andrew, there are 82 people called Bound arriving in Australia in the 1800s according to the Australian shipping lists on Ancestry. You can't expect us to post them all so you need to be much more specific about which ones you are researching.

There are lots of Public Member Trees on Ancestry listing a William Bound, born 1802 in Cornwall, died 1865 Longford, Tasmania.
Not Somerset/Bristol, but if that sounds like a possibility, you could try contacting the tree owners.

In no particular order -
- my Bound family was from Pill, NW Somerset, between Bristol and Portishead, arriving there having been in Bristol 1610 - c1760/80 - surname is unique in this specific area to my father's family - have done vast amount of research on tree for wife + self with over 20,000 entries - we know who did not emigrate fo Australia, it's a matter of not knowing who did - by 'emigrate' I also include sailors who left ship having arrived in Australia, as the family is a maritime one of pilots, mariners and master mariners

Thanks v much - this seems very likely. Joseph was a family name at the time. The surname is unique to us in the Bristol area. Also there is a family legend that a Bound was kicked out of Bristol for embezzling the City Corporation funds. Legend attached it to 1 of 2 earlier Bounds - Robert , Lord Mayor of 1709/10, and his grandson Robert but I was able to find out that they were both innocent of any crime.

Andrew, Google Public Record Office Victoria, click on Ships and Shipping, then search for Bound. Records are there for passengers arriving in Melbourne 1852-1923.
