Can anyone assist with information on either of the twins or their parents? They were born in Kettering on 1st June 1921.

just to save your research being duplicated unnecessarily.

The mothers maiden name was smith...not seeing a marriage that fits so purchasing a birth cert maybe the only way to find out

Like Jax, I cannot find a marriage reference for them, nor a baptism


so the only way to find the parents is to buy the birth certificates.


Buy them from GRO, and never pay more than £9.25, postage included (even overseas)

If you search births on the freeBMD site, there are very few Laura SUMPTER and only one after 1900 with no middle initial.
There is one marriage that would fit with this, but not in the same area.... and of course that may be someone else, eg. a widow marrying again.


If Eva was a sister, this could relate to her 1st husband.
I think she later remarried going by records on freeBMD site

SUMPTER ; Thankyou very much for your help. The information I have is what you too have uncovered. We think Laura was my husband's grandmother.We were told that her mother died shortly after they (the twins) were born which ties in with the Sumpter who died in Leicester j/a/s 1921.I will have to keep digging.I haven't been able to find any info on Mary other than from the Northamptonshire archives who state the girls were born on 1st june 1921, Kettering

May I suggest that you obtain the birth certificates for the two girls, for Eva, and for the Annie E Sumpter who died in Leicester

Each certificate will cost £9.25, BUT you will discover whether they are all related, the reason for the Annie E's death ................. could it have been in, or as a result of, childbirth????. And you will also find out how close to the births she died.

Plus, you will discover who reported her death, or whether she was the wife or widow of Samuel
