I have come across a lovely photograph of two little girls taken around 1895. Marguerite Marion Hooton and Doris Amy Hooton. I've managed to find out Marguerite was born june quarter 1892 West Ham and Doris Birkenhead dec quarter 1893. I'm just curious as to their family background as I would like to put this on my flickr site. Can anyone help me please? Thank you

There's a private tree on Ancestry has Doris Amy. Obviously can't see any detail but the titles of photos they have attached come up as

"Doris Amy Lindsay nee Hooton aged about 26"

and

"Bills relations 083 Jacks Father and Mother in 1919 N Africa
CATEGORY: Other
TAKEN: 18 Apr 2012
ATTACHED TO: Doris Amy Hooton (born 1893)"

Perhaps the tree owner might be interested in the photos - I could pass a message on if you like? (Click on my name to send a pm with your email address)

EDIT: Have now passed Mrs MooMoo's contact details to the tree owner.

In 1911 Margurite was a governess - it doesn't look like she ever married:

6 Apr 2013 09:47 post another accidental duplicate to be deleted

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 6 Apr 2013 11:34

.. but who would be stupid enough to report it?

There's a big difference between a whole thread submitting twice where research could be duplicated and one post that submitted twice on a thread (which often happens when the boards are running slow).

For clarification, where I mention above that I asked for the duplicate thread to be deleted I did so by asking Mrs MooMoo on the other thread, and not by reporting it.

I was just reading through this.......what happened???

I can understand people posting twice at the moment - the site is playing silly beggars again by saying an error has occurred when, in fact, the post has been posted.

I've no idea Cynthia - I've had some glitches this morning with some pages freezing.

When Mrs MooMoo originally posted her thread that must have happened and then it posted twice so I suggested she delete the other one:
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1322752
but there's no harm done as all the responses are on here.

Looks like one of her posts came through twice but someone's obviously thought that breaches t&c!

I was having problems with the site freezing earlier using internet explorer - Seems to work much better and faster with Google Chrome, so worth a try if you are still having problems

Flip - Chrome's what I use!

Will give Firefox a turn for a change.

Flip Report 6 Apr 2013 13:09

No need to apologise, it happens to all of us especially when the site is running slow or throwing up error messages. :-D

Added, I've just got and ERROR Bad request message - but the message posted!

Wouldn´t bother with Firefox.
For days now, whenever I try to go into Find Ancestors I get timed out or get a page with no text on the threads.
It´s driving me mad. Doesn´t happen on other boards, or ither sites.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 6 Apr 2013 22:09

The site has been sending up Error messages when trying to post messages or new threads for a week or two.

and many of us have accidentally tried to hurry things along by pressing Submit again, at least once more!

so, no need to apologise Mrs MooMoo!!

The helpers usually post on a duplicate thread to ask for the thread owner to delete mainly so that others do not reply on is, thus duplicating research already posted. We do not report it to GR!

Wisechild ............. I'm using Firefox, but have only had he slow posting of messages ....................... I really don't want to get yet another site if I can avoid it!!
