Thankyou all for your replies, as a newcomer they are extremely helpful and it seems that the best thing I can do is to get copy of marriage certificate.

Bertha Terry was a servant living in Surrey on the 1911 census. There are 3 George Bonds of a suitable age living in Surrey on the 1911.

So, as has been mentioned above, you really need his marriage certificate to find out his age and occupation.

That would have made him only 16.......or 17 at most............. when he married.

The marriage cert is essential............

according to a tree, George was born 1896 and Bertha was actually Bertha Kate Terry

Peter,
Did George have a middle name?
Do you know what his occupation was when he married?
Any idea what his parents names were, or if he had any siblings?

Any idea where he died?

It would appear that the couple may have had several children besides their son George:

Have looked in "Search All Trees" to see whether any other GR members have George Snr, Bertha or any of their children in their family tree? Just in case as a board newcomer you don't know, "Search All Trees" can be found top right of this page just move your mouse pointer over "Search"

Are you just guessing that he was born in 1894? It would have made him rather young to be marrying........

Looking for more information on George bond who was born c1894 no idea where but he married a Bertha Terry in 1913 in Trotton, West Sussex. The Terry family come from Trotton and she was on 1901 census having been born in Trotton in 1894.He died in 1961 I think. He was divorced from Bertha in later life and lived in London. He had a son George Bond who is my wifes Father and who was born in 1923 in Sutton so assume the family moved from Trotton to Sutton some time after getting married in 1913.
