on the marriage certificate the grooms name is entered as Richard William but at the bottom where they sign it is signed William Richard so I presume that is why it is registered with both names.
Also thanks for the Fortt family census 1911. I also am trying to find out about a Florrie, looks like this could be her.
Also the Reeds and Newtons from Somerset are connected, I have quite a lot of info about them.
I'm just wondering if Richard was born in Ross, moved to Ynysybwl where he married Susan, their son William Gilbert was born in Ynysybwl, then they could have moved back to Ross where she remarried when Richard was killed in the war. Just got to find out if these war records are him

Thank you so much
Julie

Yes you are right about William Ricketts Davies, I did think it was him, but I was wrong.

the Davies in Ross lived in Brampton Street (according to the death location of the Henry and SArah Davies on the tree in ancestry)

have found James D Waythe army record

hand written note at the top says BRAMPTON Street and his next of kin listed as living in Brampton Street

Back for more advice!!!
Still trying to sort this out. Seem to have a family that liked changing their names, is this possible? William Richard is also Richard William on his marriage certificate and on the WW1 medal rolls index. His father named as Henry Davies (Davis on his marriage record and some censuses) seems to also have been called Richard!! On the 1881 census I have a Sarah Davies born 1863 married to a Richard Davies born 1863, so the dates of birth match my research. They were living in Ross with Sarah Hazlewood who i presume to be Sarah Davies's mother. There is a marriage record in Ross for a Sarah Hazelwood and Henry Davis in 1878 which I think must be them. do you think Richard is Henry???
