Find Ancestors

I've been told that my great grandparents married on 25 Dec 1874 in Spitalfields - their names were John Fitzgerald and Mary Ann Kelly. I've looked on the marriage records but can't find them - can anyone confirm please? thanks.

Which site's records have you looked at?

Perhaps you were given duff info...........did they have children between 1874 and 1881?

Thanks for responses - Shirley this is the information I was given - where did you get it from and do you have the gro.gov record index so I can obtain a copy?
And yes Reggie their children were Mary Ann 1876, Ann Norah 1877, John 1879 & Michael 1881.

It's on ancestry London marriages however!,, looking at the record its struck through and annotated that an impediment was alleged by his father Michael
Fitzgerald so assume the marriage was voided.

They married later when they were both over 21 so didn't need fathers permissions

they put banns up again in 1875 may 2/9/16 but no marriage took place
