I wonder if Aubrey Wilfred knew who his real mother was?

EDIT:
There are a number of In Memoriam notices on Trove for Reginald Thomas Lobb who was killed in action 1918. They mention sisters Girlie and Doris and brother Cyril, no mention of Aubrey as a sibling. (I reckon Girlie must be Vera Catherine).

Thats exactly what went through my head after reading Cheri' posts, I suspect not :-(

Sad isn't it :-(

Mind you if the grandparents were 'keeping up appearances' and claiming him as their son, you'd think he WOULD have been listed as a sibling of Reginald (and also as a son in Thos Francis' death notice)? Odd since he is definitely shown as their son in the wedding notice.

Hi all,
The family you arediscussing is the same family I have followed to this point of deciding if Vera had this child out of wedlock.
The only name Peter can remember being talked about is Thomas when he was a very small child.
Aubrey's next of Kin is Mrs AM Lobb and they share that address on the was service records. Would whe have been grandma Lobb?
Thomas (deceased) is acknowledged in the wedding announcement.
The Memorial notices of Reginald Thomas Lobb eventually mention Aubrey.
Aubrey isn't mentioned in Thomas' death notice as his child.
I have contacted BDM and asked how to get the birth certificate of Aubrey Wilfed Lobb as general searching is coming up empty.

cheers
Di

Cherilyn also gives details there which show Charity Doris, Vera's older sister' to be Aubrey's mother.
