Ed Report 26 May 2013 19:17

I am having trouble confirming John's parents. John Thomas married Emily Jane Wilkins 30 Jun 1900 at St Stevens, Shepherds Bush London.John Thomas 29 (1871) and father John - farmer. In 1901 Thomas* and Emily living in Ramsey Hunts with Thomas shown as 1871 Hunts. In 1911 Thomas (widower) shown abt 1871 and living with Mother Mary born abt 1851 St Neotts. Daughter Minnie birth registered as Minnie Squires Parnell 1904. There is a marriage of John Parnell and Mary Ann Squires 1874 Hunts. In 1881 Islington London there is a John Parnell with wife Mary abt 1854 St Neotts but their son John shown as born 1879 Islington.
I can find no John Thomas/John/Thomas birth for abt 1871 Hunts.
Is the 1881 family correct?

Hello Ed, do you have any idea who Rosa Fanny Dawes was who was a witness to the marriage?

(A married sister?)

It seems very likely that Mary Ann Squires left John Thomas with her parents when she married John Parnell - perhaps he wouldn't take on someone else's child?

When she and John went on to have their own children then the son born 1879 was named John after his father.
