Hello, can you help me at all please?
Has anyone any information on an Ellen or Nellie Cowley born Hempton Oxfordshire about 1886,and married Robert Alfred Gardner ?
Apart from finding them on the 1911 census, I have drawn a blank with marriage details. Pat

Are you certain that they actually married?

There is a marriage for a Nellie Cowley in Oxfordshire in 1919 but NOT to Robert Gardner.

Perhaps they weren't free to marry each other and just lived as man and wife - it happened quite a lot between the wars.
