Ah... as you probably guess I am very new to this. so apologies for reply sent direct.

Yes he is the George Clark mentioned by Dea and Jude.

I know a lot about my grandmother Jane ( his daughter) but nothing of either side of the family the Hill or the Clark side.

I was told that my grandmother had lost a brother who drown in the Thames, but this too only family heresay and not proven. Thank you to those who have started me on the correct trail. If any one has a photograph or any documentation I would be happy to share what I have on Jane - including her being put into service record

Just to clarify - on George and Fanny's marriage record his occupation is stated as Labourer, not harbour foreman (or was that in 1901?). He gave address as Ealing Lane and father George was also a labourer.

This is my great grandfather, does anyone know of him in their family tree. He married a lady by the name of Fanny Hill. He was a harbour forman at that time. but was previously a coal porter and lived in Battersea by the river.

There are far too many clarks for wild guesses and I have tried unsuccessfully to find anything for the clark family. Can you help?

thank you Carol
