FYI to everyone who assisted me. I have returned from visiting Nottingham and located Charlotte's burial. She and a son who died young are buried together in the General cemetery. Spent time in the Archives office still unable to find Henry's place of burial. Again I appreciate everyone's advice and guidance.

I have researched the location of Ball Street and Norland Road. Have purchased Old Ordnance Survey Maps. (1899 to1913)
I contacted St Mary's with no luck.
Will send an email to St Ann's if I can locate contact details.
Will also folloiw up on Church Cemetery and try the 'Local studies unit' at the City Council.
Ii sincerely appreciate all these new leads.

The Nottinghamshire Archive Office holds indexes to the interments, and the graves at both cemeteries. By consulting the surname index (entries are arranged chronologically under the first letter of the surname), the enquirer will find the grave number. The grave index will then show the interment numbers for the various people buried in that grave, which will then lead to the full interment certificates of those people. It is not unusual to find that several members of an extended family, spread across three or four generations, have been laid to rest together.

Hi ... I suggest you try the Nottingham Council 'Local Studies' unit - I have been helped with similar enquiry at another Council...and received excellent service.

As the smaller church cemeteries became full, during the nineteenth century, it became necessary to rethink the way in which burials within the city were managed.

In 1836, a 12-acre plot of land, just outside the city boundary and to the north of the Derby Road, was set aside as a General Cemetery for the surrounding area, and the first interment took place the following year. In 1856, a second site was opened, to be known as the Church Cemetery, lying at the top of Forest Fields, near Hyson Green.

By 1881, nearly all burials in Nottingham took place within these two grounds. The General Cemetery contains over 29,000 graves, and has seen upwards of 148,000 interments, with the last new grave dug in 1959 (some family graves are still in use). The Church Cemetery contains nearly 14,000 graves, and has seen over 44,000 interments with, again, some graves still in use. Many graves were communal graves, though a large number were purchased privately and used through the years for several members of the family. It is these latter graves which can be of most use to the family historian.

Hi Mark in most cases I have over the last 10 months got automatic responses such as : you need to come in and search to you need to obtain certificates which I already had and had advised them this. I seem to have been passed from one authority or group to another. I appreciate everyone is busy and these authorities and groups must get many enquiries. My hope was to visit their final resting places as I am the first family member to visit Nottingham since 1923.
On Charlotte s death certificate her address was 9 Ball Street, Nottingham.
On Henrys death certificate his address was 44 Norland Road, Nottingham. I have emailed the Nottingham City Council and they would not suggested where they would have been buried suggested I contact Archives. Archives said they could not help with burial details. Appreciate your interest.

What address is on the death certificates, and have you looked for the nearest cemeteries to that place?
Have you received suggestions that have yielded no results, or have you had no response at all?

I live in Western Australia, where Henry and Charlotte son Leonard immigrated. I am currently in Barcelona, Spain on holidays. I will be in Nottingham in a couple of weeks. I have limited access to WiFi. What I know: Henry Henson was the son of Stephen Henson and Mary Ann Bailey. He died 24 August 1894 age 46, Nottingham. Charlotte Henson nee Watson was the daughter of Charles Watson and Charlotte Hodgkinson. She died 4 February 1891 age 38. I have both their death certificates. I want to know where they are buried. I have contacted the Nottingham Archives, General cemetery of Nottingham, Nottingham City Council, Nottingham Family Society and members of Ancestry and Genes. No one has been able to help. PLEASE REMEMBER while travelling I have limited access to WiFi and may not be able to respond immedaitely.Appreciate any help.
