How do you know the name of the person who registered the birth without knowing when the birth was registered?

Potty Report 20 Jul 2013 11:15

Tiny, have you got the 1968 marriage cert and the Hartlepool birth cert, both of which would give his father's name? The Index ref for his birth would have his MMN. I can't find

thanks everyone .. yes reggie thats him .. he was born in durham hartlepool registered i think by a thomas w jamieson ... married in 1968 in birkenhead to margaret dawson ,,, hubby has always been led to believe that he was only 42 when he died , but this now proves it to be wrong .. but he`s not surprised .. bit shocked to read it .. now lets just see if the wood bit of the name is right as he`s been told it comes from williams mothers maiden name .. thanks everyone your all stars :-D

Good find, alviegal..................

And there are five births dated 1969, of which at least 4 must be re-registered

In fact, one of them was previously registered in 1965 and 1966 under both surnames

There is also a Jamieson/Dawson birth in Birkenhead in 1975, which raises yet another question

If you think the death in 1971 is the right man....get the cert. It should say where he was born

The marriage was in 1968 Birkenhead. Have pm'd it to Tiny.

You refer to a marriage in 1066............presumably you mean some other year.

Where did the marriage take place?

Does you husband have his own birth cert?

If not................he must get it.......

Where and when was your husband born?

Was he registered as Jamieson?

ArgyllGran Report 19 Jul 2013 21:18

There were no William Wood Jamiesons, and no William W Jamiesons born anywhere in Scotland 1912 - 1916. (Per ScotlandsPeople)

There were 88 William Jamiesons, but I can't see the mothers' names without viewing the images, which costs credits.

Do you know his mother's first name? There are two Jamieson/Dawson marriages in Scotland between 1910 and 1920 (if that's the right time-frame?).

Was he married to your husband's mother? Is he named on your husband's birth cert? When and where did he die. Would a 1971 death tie up with him dying when your husband was 4?

Sorry to ask so many questions but if we are going to be able to help we need to know as much as possible.

Hi, Tiny -
I'm not clear whether you're looking for his birth or his marriage.

On ScotlandsPeople:
There were no William Wood Jamiesons born in Scotland 1920-40, nor any William W Jamiesons.
There were 250 William Jamiesons born 1920-40.

Impossible to narrow it down without a bit more specific information.

Do you mean that the marriage you found in, presumably, 1966, is the correct one? If so, can you give us more info about it, please?

Potty

Potty Report 19 Jul 2013 13:20

Did he marry in Scotland? Not find a marriage in, I assume, 1966 in England or Wales.
