Hi Cherilyn, pleased you popped up on here as I was going to send for you!

Certainly an interesting family and Arthur comes across as someone who gave back to society.

Can you find a death record for Margaret May Richardson (nee Thomas), going by passenger lists she was born c1880. Thing is, I'm not sure if she died Australia or England.

Have to add what a lovely chap to be descended from - he did some great work for the less fortunate! :-)

Hi Emma

Two births in Victoria, Australia:

Norman Allan RICHARDSON 1910 (reg 8375), born in Balwyn, parents shown as Arth Osmand and Margt May (nee THOMAS).

Colin Arth 1912 (reg 4259), born in Hepburn, parents shown as Arth Asmond and Margt May (nee THOMAS).

The 1908 marriage (reg 7935) shows his birthplace as Northampton and hers as Bendigo.

Two possible births for her both born in Sandhurst, Victoria (or Sandridge?), both in or near Melbourne, not near Bendigo...marriage certificate would tell you her parents names.

I mentioned a son for Arthur and Alexandrina (did I say that on the passenger list she was 5' 10" tall and Arthur was 5' 8" ?)

This is that son's marriage:

The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1931 - 1954) Saturday 15 January 1949

WOODS —RICHARDSON. —The marriage of Elizabeth Mary, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Woods, of Kilkenny, to Arthur Lincoln, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Richardson, of Helmsdale, will be solemnised at St. David's Church of England, Burnside, on Saturday, January 22, at 3.15 p.m.

Most of this is from Ancestry Worldwide, Emma.

I'm not yet sure if Arthur and Margaret May divorced or if he was widowed. I can't find a divorce record but neither have I yet found a positive death for Margaret May.

wonder if he remarried then... after he had the two boys? I know from speaking to Chris grandmother who remembers meeting him in London with her husband Colin Richardson that she only ever met him between him commuting back and forth between australia after the war.

This looks like Norman Allan's birth:

Australia Birth Index, 1788-1922

Name: Norman Allan Richardson
Father's Name: Arth Osmand Richardson
Mother's Name: Margt May Thomas
Birth Place: Balwyn, Victoria
Registration Year: 1910
Registration Place: Victoria
Registration number: 8375

MarieCeleste Report 3 Aug 2013 21:15

In 1929 he's travelling with Alexandrina but there is this 1930 London ER:

London, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1965 about Arthur Osmond - J Richardson
Name: Arthur Osmond Richardson
Year: 1930
County or Borough: Wandsworth
Ward or Division/Constituency: Putney, Streatham and Central
Street Address: 12 Christchurch Road

Still listed with Margaret May although this does seem to be the last London ER that he's on.

He seems to be on the Australian ER with Alexandrina from 1933 to 1937.
