I have traced my ancestors back to 1682 but have run up against a brick wall. I am trying to find the parents of James Watson l. He was born in Horton Yorkshire (IGI records say Barton, not true) in 1682. He married Isabel Thornber on Oct 21, 1707. Her parents were Robert Thornber and Maria Peele. James and Isabel were married in Gisburn Yorkshire. Can anyone help. Thanks

I also found this record but I do not believe it is the James I am looking for. First I believe the location is not where my James came from and I cannot find any record of the above James being married to Isabel Thornber. I also know that James and Isabel had a son James in 1708 and I have verified this family using Parish Records housed in the Clitheroe library.

I found him on IGI but it says he was born in Barton but it is actually Horton. Horton is a village just outside Gisburn. I visited the area this year and met with friends who live in that area. I guess it is easy to get things like this mixed up when they are from transcribed records. Sorry I did not reply earlier but I live in Canada and we are 5 hours behind the UK

The info from IGI gave me the following.
Birth Barton about 1682. (I believe this is a transcription error)
Marriage Oct 21 1707 at Gisburn
Spouse Isabel Thornber
Batch A22981-9
IGI Batch Type Code 1
IGI Film Number 458114
I am not familiar with how to use Batch, Film etc

Hi Ann
Again many thanks for your input. I have details on Isabel Thornber, parents Robert and Maria Peele and other children. The James Watson that you cite is not the James Watson in my tree. He was born in Newsholme in 1708 and I believe he is the son of James and Isabel Thornber. I have confirmed James 1708 with parish records. Also Alisan born Nov 30, 1735 in Gisburn. She has siblings Isabel, James, Robert, Thomas, John and William. Also James 1708 lost his first wife Elizabeth Corlas In Sept 1743 (probably during childberth of twins John and William). He remarried a Margareta Hoyle in Gisburn in May 1744. From this period on I have confirmed data to the present day.
However I cannot get backwards from 1682, this is where I am stuck.
Again I appreciate your help on my behalf.
