Was your mother in law Florence M Gregory? If so, that marriage certificate could prove useful, and may give some lead as to his parentage.

You could try local newspapers to see if anything was reported at the time.

Incidently if the 1942 marriage is correct he was also listed as Reginald P Moore.

Do you know when and where he married? The only thing I can see for him is his death in Kent in 1991 under that full name, and a marriage for Eustace B Palmer in Fulham 1942.

If the story about him being a foundling is correct you may never find his ancestry, just hope to find him when the 1921 census is released and confirm your story one way or the other.

Did he name a father on his marriage cert?

Help needed in finding the birth name of my husbands father. Born 4/10 /17 but cannot find any birth registration under the name Eustace Buxton Palmer. Story goes that he was left on a doorstep of a pub in Rye Essex. Would be grateful for any help or suggestions.
