Giving the child her own name would be quite normal

The thought that someone would want to trace her would probably never have crossed her mind.

I think you're looking for complications where there aren't any

Did Her mother have a middle name? Who registered the birth? Have you looked for a marriage or death for her mother in that name?

Highly unlikely that anyone would be thinking of falsifying records for a child who was going to be adopted at the time of birth registration,

no. she was born in halifax. however, I have her birth certificate. just wanted to know if people would put incorrect information on birth certificates so adopted children couldnt trace birth parents

Hi!
I have just received my maternal grandmother's birth certificate. She was adopted when she was born in october 1939.

I'd like to find anyone living that is related to her birth family so would like some help starting my search.

However, the birth certificate says that my grandmother was named marjorie, which remained her name until her death.

Under mothers name/maiden name it says marjorie scholefield.
So im confused. Is this correct, she named her baby after herself before giving her up for adoption?

What are the chances that the document was forged to make it impossible for her to contact her birth family in the future?

help please
Rebecca
