The record Flip posted 15 Sep 2013 09:34 looks to be the 1920 census for Arthur & Elizabeth. I notice on that record that Henry Bracken is listed as being the son of the household. No age is given for him but he's old enough to have an occupation (Linen Cutter). He was born California, both parent's listed as from New York.

Was he adopted in the same way Lucy and Herbert adopted John White?

The occupation is the same as the other record, but that one says he is widowed - I'm wondering if they said that to avoid embarrassment.
