Well I have also learned something today, I sent the images in 4 messages and Ebbie has only got the first one of each message so I am now sending the most important ones and we can sort out the ones that are just the cover sheets showing the dates afterwards.

Kind regards
Amanda

Hi again and yes I have no problem with the info being shared you all deserve to be part of it all.
I was telling Amanda about my father and she said that you all might like to here this little story!
My fathers life story just seems to get so much more interesting he could write a book! He has his name on a plaque in Aberdeen I think it is, saying he is dead with the rest of his ship mates his wife receive telegram and he still here at 99 when it came to get his pension they kept telling him he was dead so he worked till he was 78 as he could not get pension then went part time till 83. When they finally got it sorted for his back pay they gave him a voucher for a portable colour TV. He has lived with me for the last four years since he broke his hip for the second time. He is over the moon finding out all this info piecing his life together after all these years. And the bits he forgot! Xx

Hi All,

Well I think it is her, Ebbie will probably be able to confirm it, I am just about to PM the images.

I'll leave Ebbie to post on here which details he is happy to share with us.

If it is right, we have dates of birth for the 3 children, an address in New York for Samuel, an address for Elizabeth in the UK, plus the 1911 Marriage Cert although I didn't find an actual Divorce, so maybe it took place later on or in the USA?

The 1911 for Samuel posted looks correct, his father was William a Boatman, but no father was listed on the Marriage Cert for Elizabeth Smallwood, they were both aged 20.

I have paper copies as well for Ebbie if he would like them.

I am so glad to have been able to help someone out and thank you for the lovely comments Gins and Tenerife Sun!

Kind regards
Amanda

Amanda,

Hi Ebbie,

You mentioned that Elizabeth remarried so it's always worth a look on the National Archives website to see if a Divorce took place before 1937 as Kew hold the Original Documents, it might be the case that the Divorce was much later on.

Thank you Gins, I always forget to add the extra bit of information!

So as it might be her I am off to Kew to view the papers and see if it is your Elizabeth, if it is I will get copies scanned of the documents for you.

I'll be back on here this evening.

Kind regards
Amanda

Thank you Amanda, how interesting, how did you find that?
That brought a tear to my eye!
That was five years after her return from New York.
Thank you so much.

And thank you Gins for explaining. :-)

Nice find Amanda

So Elizabeth wanted him back?

Restitution of conjugal rights

This could be brought against a husband or wife who was guilty of "subtraction"; that is, living away from their spouse without a good reason. If the suit was successful, the married couple would be required to live together again.

Hi Gins,
Yes I did have a look, can't find where it says that they have a copy of death certificate, I know you have to pay but if I pay and you can't see I would rather pay for one to be sent, is that poss from New York?
