trying to find any connection between Joseph Dunn and John Dunn(gggrandfather) both shipwrights 1807 RN Dockyards.
1841 census shows John b.Portsea, 1851 census shows b. Newcastle upon Tyne.

If 1841 census is the correct person, then it does state that the couple were not born in the same county as the census.

There's also a marriage for the same couple in January of the same year:-

If this is the same couple from the 1841 census then it would mean that Joseph was only 15yrs old when he married. My thinking is that maybe the couple married but were too young so they had to remarry once they had turned 16yr., but that's just a theory?

There may of course be two couples with the same names, so need to look closer into that.

In those days, I think you'll find, marriage was legal for boys of 14 , and girls of 12............

It wasn't until the early 20th century that those ages were changed

Hi Catherine.
This is the Joseph Dunn family I am interested in ,family names run through both families, John Dunn and Catherine named their first son William Joseph which makes me think Joseph and John Dunn may be brothers so I need to find their births and marriages.
Hampshire marriages are indexed ,I know that John Dunns marriage in not there so could be Newcastle.
