Alfred Lyon is my GGGrandfather. He moved to Willington, County Durham and died there in 1948. I have a tentative trace of one of his ancestors - John Lyon - who emigrated to Salt Lake City, USA in 1774.

Does anyone have a connection with this branch of the Lyon family?

How did you work back to Alfred?

You have given no birth year info for him................

Also, which 'branch' do you have in mind?

When did he emigrate?
I hardly think 1777 can be accurate. I suppose it was claimed by Spain by then, but they weren't really interested in it as Utah was just desert. It became Mexican in 1821, following their independence from Spain, and became part of the USA in 1848.
