Welcome to the boards, Sandra.

Could you tell us when and where you think your father married.

Thank-you

Think you're going to have to buy the birth certificate, I'm afraid.

Forget the above marriage looks like the wrong people.

Birth registered under 2 surnames. You will need the birth certificate for the names of his parents.

Births Sep 1925
Garner William T Froggatt Rotherham 9c 1366
Searstone William T Froggatt Rotherham 9c 1366

This Garner / Froggatt possible marriage in the right area but you still need that birth certificate!

Marriages Jun 1911
Froggatt Margaret Huddersfield 9a 649
Garner William Huddersfield 9a 649
Lockwood Winifred A Huddersfield 9a 649
Phippard Frederick G Huddersfield 9a 649

Sandie, did your Dad have any siblings?
If you could give us some names it may help to sort this out.
Thanks

It was the Garner / Froggatt births I was looking at Catherine. That's why I was thinking that the mother wasn't free to marry hence the posting of the 1911 marriage.

Ooop, sorry just noticed rootgatherer has already posted above marriage.

Yes rootgatherer I was thinking down the same lines. It is very possible that William was illegitimate. Birth certificate will solve this one.

No problem Catherine - at least we were thinking along the same lines. ;-)
