Hi Kath and Brian.

I'm also stuck on this one.

Sorry to ask but was Rosina listed as single on the marriage cert?

I tried the address for her on the 1901 census. No luck as it doesn't seem to be there. :-|

I'm also having a problem with the witnesses.

Really sorry!

Mary Report 3 Mar 2014 11:13

The only Edward Cotterill butcher that I have found.
1881 Ancoats Manchester lancs
Edward 1856 Pork butcher born Chatham.
Alice 1854
Sarah J . 3.

Ancoats is close to the same area that Rosina and Charles was in 1911.

I can't find anything else on this Edward at all, which seems strange.

Hi Sylvia, thanks for the tip on searching Ancestry. I've been using Ancestry for over eleven years and didn't realise I could use more than one asterisk in a name :-(

Dea

Dea Report 3 Mar 2014 18:41

I found Rosina's burial site at Philips Park Cemetery 28/10/1949 and was hoping that perhaps there were other family members in there which might help but she was buried with Charles (3/9/1942 and no other family members with them so not much help there then. :-(

TS

you can even search with an asterisk or ? at the beginning of the name

so .............. ?ott*ll or *ott*ll

it does work better with more letters following rather than fewer

but that does help if you have a name where the initial letter is frequently mis-transcribed

eg ............. Ladd ...... which can be seen as Sadd, Cadd, etc etc
