Ethel Sophia Parkins. I am trying to find my grandmother. Her name Ethel Sophia Parkins, born 1901 and gave birth to a daughter Felicity Parkins in 1930. She deposited her daughter (my mother) with the Sisters of Nazareth in Iselworth London (who have been of little use. Safe to say they confirmed my mother was with them). She visited her a couple of times and has not been seen since. she has obviosly passed away by now but I can't find a record of marriage, death or any record of her life since. If there is any one out there who can shed a light on this I would be very grateful and it would give my mother some closure.
Many thanks for your interest
Mike

Hi Michael
The whole family seem to disappear after the 1911 census, which leads me to think they went overseas?
I've had a quick look for records of the family in: USA, CA and AUS with no luck
Do you any other information on Ethel or her family?

Possibly?
British Army WWI Pension Records 1914-1920 about Robert Percy Parkins Name: Robert Percy Parkins Estimated birth year: abt 1885 Age at enlistment: 29 Birth Parish: Wandsworth Birth County: Surrey Document Year: 1914 Regimental Number: A1972 Regiment Name: Kings Royal Rifle Corps Number of Images: 6
ADDED: Yes, it does seem to be him, he's a labourer born Wandsworth.
Interestingly, it has no mention of his wife. It gives his nok as his brother Charles of 75 Haythorpe St, Wimbledon Park man Rowton House, Vauxhall Street.
It DOES say however that he has 1 child - Ethel, born Nov 1906 (shame there's no actual birth date as normally found)
Reading between the lines it seems as though he and his wife may have split up?
For the record, he was discharged soon after enlistment as medically unfit due to defective vision.

Hi Thank you for all your help
This is the correct family I believe the marriage ended and she re married an Edward Holmes. I think he became a down and Out but I am intrigued about the newspaper cutting sugesting He and his daughter were in touch. The Solicitors involved (Taylor Wilcox & Co) ceased trading in 1989. I have tried to locate where the business was transferred to but I have drawn a complete blank. I am applying for a copy of Ethel's death certificate and if it's the correct Ethel that may shed some light on things. I don't think I will have any more joy with Robert Parkins who is my great grandfather. I Can't find his name in the death index. I have Ethel's Birth Cirtificate she was born in 1907. I shall keep looking and thank you again for your help.

Gins.
Apart from the information in my first post Ethel worked in service and gave birth to my mother (no fathers name mentioned on the birth certificate). Her maiden name was Ward. She just disappeared after leaving my mother at the convent. It appears from records that including my self the last four generations of my mothers line have been in care of some sort. I am pleased to say I stopped the trend even if my first marriage did not work out.

Mike, looking at that newspaper card it doesn't read to me that they were in touch, rather that they were both deceased and the solicitors were trying to trace relatives.
