Does anyone have any info on George Thomas High b c1879,married Mary Ann Stockley in Portsmouth on 24/6/1904. George was a stoker on HMS Prince George at the time. They had a son b19/10/1906 in Portsmouth called George William Thomas. I know he left the Royal Navy after the first world war but can find
nothing about him after that. He also served on HMS Patrol in 1906. His wife remarried in 1913 to Edward Thomas Rutledge. From 1906 Mary Ann Stockley had
3 more children Edward, Samuel, Victoria. that was upto 1912, were these children
George High's or Edward Rutledge's ?????? Does anyone out there know. I hope so. Roy Crook.

Do you have the cert for Mary Ann's marriage to Rutledge? Or any of the childrens' birth certs? Did she and George divorce or had George been presumed dead?

Was George the one born in Beverley, Yorks?

On the 1911 image, against E Rutledge the columns for marriage and children originally has 0 for years married, children born 3, still living 3. These have been scored through. The same is against Mary Ann, except years married is 7.

FMP's transcription is rubbish......the younger two are Rutledges.

I'll let Roy know how to find his way back to his replies. :-)

On Ancestry.co.uk there are about 3/4 records of a George Thomas High born @ 1878 as a Fireman on board ships going to America etc.
One states in 1928 that he has been in service for 32 years = 1896,that date appears in the navy records posted earlier.

Ah! Now that answers the pm I had from Roy!

He sent me a message saying that it looks as though someone else called Roy was looking for the same info and mentioned Viv. As I couldn't see a response from Viv on this thread, I couldn't think where he had got it from.

I advised him to untick but I think he is obviously struggling with the site. I've had a spate of that recently.

Will go back and advise yet again..... :-)
