sorry I was interrupted by phone calls while typing that post and events passed me by :-)

'my father's William Warwick'

is that ... your husband's father?

I'm afraid I'm confused by the names ... was your father a child of William and Margaret?

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

with their names, you can search there and find their marriage

this gives you William's middle initial and with that you can find his birth
(a little later than you thought if the one I find is the correct person)

unfortunately, this death record matches what is found on those searches

Name: William James Warwick
Birth Date: 29 Jun 1938
Date of Registration: Nov 1997
Age at Death: 59
Registration district: Sunderland
Inferred County: Durham
Register Number: B55E
District and Subdistrict: 0581B
Entry Number: 287

the question is what info you are looking for ... I hope that information does not cause you distress but without knowing what your relationship is it is hard to know how to approach the question ...

William's birth record tells you his mother's surname, and with that you can search for other births with the same parents

Margaret appears to be still on the electoral roll ..... with someone who appears to be related to you by marriage, so would it be best to contact them for info? or if you are asking on their behalf, let us know in the thread here.

Have you used free bmd to look for the names of William's siblings - family of around a dozen, finishing with twins?

The marriage is listed on www.freebmd.org.uk, 1957 in Sutherland.

His name is shown as William J Warwick and hers as Margaret E Brown....unless this is a different couple?

William Warwick, 1938, Sunderland, is in several trees on here.

Worth considering, as 1935 is only an estimate, presumably.

[Opening para removed as the Q's answered in OP.]

Have you found the registration for their marriage? If so, purchase the certificate from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
That will show his declared age, and the name of his father if known. Witnesses may be relatives.

What else do you know about them?

Have you Searched All Member Trees on this site? If anyone has listed them, send the tree owner a message.
