Hello folks.

I know I have got quite a lot of experience looking for records, so feel I should be able to locate a death for this woman - but I can't!

Her husband Frederick died in Birmingham in 1953, she was the beneficiary in his will so was definitely alive then. I have found both of them on the online electoral register in 1950, but their house is not recorded for 1955.

It's probably staring me in the face, but...!

Many thanks.

Shirley, thanks very much for replying.

It's possible she re-married I suppose, though she would have been about 78 when her husband died so I am doubting it!

The death you have put fits in every way except location, though you never know do you! her son stayed in Birmingham and the 2 daughters ended up in Cheltenham, so no clues there.

I might never know really, without risking that death cert. :-(

It doesn't really help, but just to let you know- Edith and Frederick are still listed at 295 Clifton Road in 1952.

She's definitely not there in 1957, as then 295 is occupied by William and Brenda Webb.

Well, it does help somewhat Gritty, thank you for that. And thanks for the link Gins.
Might treat myself to an early birthday present and get that cert!

well I searched for years for the death on my grt gran whos always lived in the Hackney /Bethnal Green areas even bought s couple of wrong death certs

Was looking again at the 1911 census some time ago and then decided to look to see if her eldest daughter had any more children after 1911

By chance I forgot to set the area or county and came up with two more children born in Gloucestershire. I bought one cert just to be sure it was the right family it was !!

then found grt grans death in 1935 in Gloucestershire Only her first name given but it was her !! her daughter reg her death and didnt state her second name of Matilda

So she must have moved there with her daughter and family

I would never have looked for her there .

maybe your Edith moved to live with other family after her hubby died
