Was just looking around, your Henry seems the only one born in Glasgow in 1860.

Still looking for Henry's parents on any kind of seamans records .

On the record that rootgatherer sent me I noticed it shows the ship before the Astronomer was the Cadiz , it shows he was discharged in 1883 and signed up for the Astronomer on 5/1/1884 in Glasgow .
Would anyone be able to tell me if there are any records which would show his signing on papers for the Cadiz,

I just hope the death I have found is not "my" Henry .

If you mean the number 87923, it does not refer to him.

If you do a search for one of his crew mates, you will get the same number.

Can anyone tell me if the official number shown for Henry on the Astronomer would have been used on all ships he might have worked on ?

I only ask because whilst searching on my records on scotlands people I found a death by drowning for a Henry Moor in 1885 but this Henry has a different official number . This Henry seems to have been born c 1860 and was a fireman .

He was born in Glasgow but just seems to have disappeared after the 1881 census.
Shame there is no mention of parents.
I will have to keep searching, he must be somewhere.

Not showing anything on parents - question not asked on these records.

It does say he signed up in Glasgow, or signed the agreement, on 5th January 1884.

His crew mates are also recorded as firemen and trimmers.

I have been looking for Henry Moore for years and this is the 1st thing that has come up that might just be him.

On the 1881 scottish census I have for him it shows his occupation as Hammerman though not Fireman and Trimmer.

I was hoping the records might show parents or next of kin .
