Hi Olive.
Does the occupation for William match that posted on previous page, namely furnaceman? If so, that will be your family.
If any doubts, please provide all the info from the cert - such as addresses and names of witnesses.

This might be his medal card.

Can't find a service record yet, but so many of them were lost in WWII, and it is also such a common name:

Name: Mark Jones
Military Year: 1914-1920
Rank: Gunner
Medal Awarded: British War Medal and Victory Medal
Regiment or Corps: Royal Artillery (Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery)
Regimental Number: 73445
Sub Unit: Royal Field Artillery
Previous Units: R.F.A. 73445. Gnr.

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 16 Apr 2015 23:23

This looks like the birth for the Mark Jones that rootgather posted the 1901 census for, as Bulwell comes under Basford reg district.

I can't find his WWI service records either, sadly I think they are amongst the 70% destroyed in WWII.

I only found his medal card, which was on Ancestry.

I will pm you the scan of the card, but it shows very little.

His rank of Gunner, and the fact he is in the Royal Field Artillery tally with the information you report was provided on his marriage cert.

Not having much luck with the 1911 census myself for Thomas and Hannah.

You already know where Mark was, this seems to be his sisters Eliza (now married) and Harriett:

1911 England, Wales & Scotland Census

81 Oxford Street Bulwell Nottingham, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England

George Marlow Head Married Male 29 1882 Bulwell Nottingham Bleachers Labourer
Eliza Marlow Wife Married Female 29 1882 Willenhall Staffordshire <<<
Harriatt Jones Sister In Law Single Female 15 1896 Bulwell Nottingham Cotton Gaser <<<<
George William Marlow Son - Male 8 1903 Bulwell Nottingham
Ethel Marlow Daughter - Female 7 1904 Bulwell Nottingham
Eliza Marlow Daughter - Female 6 1905 Bulwell Nottingham
Ernest Marlow Son - Male 4 1907 Bulwell Nottingham
Frederick Marlow Son - Male 2 1909 Bulwell Nottingham
Lenard Marlow Son - Male 0 1911 Bulwell Nottingham

Marriages Dec 1901
Jones Eliza Nottingham 7b 502 <<<<<<<<<<<<<
Marlow George Nottingham 7b 502 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
SHELTON Mary Ellen Nottingham 7b 502
SMITH Charles Nottingham 7b 502

Difficulty is that both Thomas Jones and Hannah Jones are very common names, so not always easy to identify the right couple.

Young Sarah A Jones from the 1901 is living with relatives back in Staffordshire in 1911:

Sarah Ann Jones Niece - Female 14 1897 Bullbell Notongham At Home<<<<<<<<<<<

Edit - I think the 'Gimbeths' look more like Gilberts on the census image:

Kucinta Report 18 Apr 2015 18:11

I'm suspecting something happened to either or both Thomas and Hannah, as I think this is their youngest child from census 1901, William, in 1911.

I suspect Hannah Hawley is his sister. We didn't see her in the 1901 census with the family, but she has been married 10 years in 1911. I suspect she is named for her mother, and again, there is the connection to Willenhall, Staff, in her birth:

1911 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription

12 Cobden Terrace Plimsoll St Nottingham, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England

William Hawley Head Married Male 31 1880 Radford Nottingham Lace Hand Theader
Hannah Hawley Wife Married Female 28 1883 Willenhall Staffs Lace Mender <<<<<<<
John Hawley Son - Male 4 1907 Radford Nottingham -
John Hawley Brother Single Male 28 1883 Radford Nottingham Lace Hand Theader
Albert Hawley Brother Single Male 22 1889 Radford Nottingham Miner Banksman
William Jones Brother Single Male 12 1899 Rullwell Nottingham <<<

I can't actually find a Hawley-Jones marriage though. :-(
