	my partner trying to piece together who her nans father might have been her name was elizabeth murray born 1922 in liverpool her mam married john ash 3 years later my partners dad was edward murray but she never knew his dads name any ideas ?

	Was Elizabeth's mum married before she had Elizabeth or was Elizabeth illegitimate? Does your partner know when her nans birthday was? Is this the marriage for Elizabeth's mum in 1925? 	If there is no father named on Edward's birth certificate, it would only be guesswork unless you can find a living relative who knows different. EDIT Are you saying Elizabeth Murray was illegitimate and she she had an illegitimate son Edward please?

	Elizabeth seems to have 3 half brothers and 2 half sisters born between 1926 and 1935. Have you checked with them or any descendants for information please?

	Then great gran was Mary Ash (nee Murray) If no father was recorded on Elizabeth's birth certificate then you will probably never know who her father was.
