I*'d seen that 1911 census thank you
In all probability Francis and or Rosanna
helped Sarah McLarnon bring my Father into the world :-D

My Irvine's have the Doag and Ballylinny connection. How they arrived in

Osborne Street Duncairn North Belfast I do not know.

You see my problem. I f some one as able as yourself sees a bit of difficulty

on the evidence available, you can imagine my confusion because I'm admittedly.
not the quickest

I was off these threads for 21/2 years but some time before that I'm sure someone informed me Francis senior was a fisherman from Dunbarton.

Not knowing where she got this I accepted it :-(

David,
The family in Dunbartonshire from 1891 to 1901 seem to be that of:
Francis Irvine and Rose Ann Mullen.
Most children were born in Belfast but they do not appear to have had a son named Samuel.

Francis Irvine and Rose Ann Galloway are on both the 1901 and 1911 census in Antrim.
Most children were born in Ballylinney, Ballynure and Doagh.
These are Samuels parents

2 different families both had daughters named Rose Ann born in Antrim.

Im not sure if you think these two men are father and son?
The two men named Francis seem to be of a similar age therefore they are probably not a father living in Dunbartonshire with his son living in Antrim

Potty Report 30 Oct 2015 15:12

David, the births of the children of Francis & Rose Ann Mullen are on familysearch. I have posted one (Rose Ann) above.

Did the Helensborough link come from finding this couple in the Scottish 1901? If you are descended from the Francis who married Rose Ann Galloway, then this is not your direct family but could be connected.

Well found, safc.

It looks as if there were two Francises married to Roseannes. This is David's in Ireland in 1901:

Residents of a house 7 in Osborne Street (Duncairn Ward, Antrim)

Irvine Rosanna 20 Female Daughter Methodist
Irvine Francis 65 Male Head of Family Methodist
Irvine Rosanna 55 Female Wife Methodist

David, where did you get the information on Helensburgh from? There is a Helen's Bay in Co Down, would that be a better fi?.

Looking at the 1841 Scotland census, there are only 11 Irvin(e)(g)s living in Dunbartonshire and only two were born there. 6 were born in Ireland. The name doesn't seem to be common in that area of Scotland - 1841 has over 4000 Irvin, Irvine or Irvings!

Scotlandspeople has 4 births for the name between 1800 and 1820 and there are 4 on familysearch - all in Cumbernauld, No Francis.

Unless I'm very much mistaken it is the

senior Francis who allegedly came from Helensburgh

David

David Report 30 Oct 2015 13:19

I have a marriage

Francis Irvine and Rosanna Galloway 1864

His Father was Francis and her Father was Samuel

Eringobragh1916

Eringobragh1916 Report 30 Oct 2015 11:42

David...Everything so far is looking as if you are correct..I have located the Marriage and the children of Francis and Roseanna.

The 1911 Census states they had 10 children and only 3 living at that time...
1901 shows only daughter Roseanna at home with her parents....

David

David Report 30 Oct 2015 11:10

I have the marriage of Francis to Rose Anna Galloway from a previous thread.

If my memory is functioning correctly I had a download of the marriage certificate

and his Father was Francis and hers was Samuel.

I will have a look and see where I got that from

Thank you sincerely for your help so far <3

Eringobragh1916 Report 30 Oct 2015 10:58

Okay David...That will correspond with the info.posted by GlasgowLass 1911 Census Antrim.....
Francis states he was born Antrim so initially we need to go back to his birth or marriage details to find out if his father was Francis (Helensburgh).....Do you have either..?
