Vap Report 7 Mar 2016 08:42

I wonder if any one can help me, I am tracing my mother FT, she was Kathleen Butler before marrying my father Edward William Harris, Her mother was Florence Twose nee Venner, and her FT Day, I always remember her telling me wen I was small that we were related to Cox Cave in Cheddar Somerset, however I can not find the Cox's family in my tree apparently it was George Cox who discovered this cave back in 1837. All her ancestors come form around that area, am I missing something????

Was your mom born in Reading in 1932? If so, her mothers maiden name was 'Twose' not 'Venner'

What does this mean - her FT Day?

Cox's Cave is in Cheddar Gorge on the Mendip Hills, in Somerset, England. It is open to the public as a show cave.

The cave is named after mill owner George Cox who discovered it in 1837, while quarrying limestone for a new building.[2][3] Cox immediately opened it as a show cave the following year and ran it as a private enterprise until landowner, Thomas Thynne, 5th Marquess of Bath, took it over at the beginning of the 20th century.[4] It was connected by a tunnel to the adjacent artificial Pavey's Cave in 1987.[5]
