Hi Elizabeth

You can order certificates from anywhere in the world for £9.25 inc P&P. The link is on an above post

Not sure what issues you are having, in terms of worldpay? Do the GRO have additional details on the death that they haven't released?

Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you. the GRO wanted some details which i passed on to my contact in London one of them was the PSP number connected to worldpay however he never used Worldpay but i might have another try I gave them
the details from the death certificate which I thought would be enough

I will let you if I have any luck but doubt it

Well done on this. Just thought I would add that a death certificate for my relative who died in Neuchatel, Switzerland contain a lot of information, but not the cause of death. I enquired further and they never give that out - or at least that is what they told me by phone to their Office in Neuchatel.

Some overseas certificates vary from our own.

Good luck with further research.

Thank you all for your help. I live in Tasmania so i have a contact in England who gets any certificates for me so I will pass this on and see what we can find out

The death certificate says June 1929. He says he has seen this a few times with overseas certificates.. There is no place on the certificate for cause of death
but I am still hoping to find out as it has been a family mystery for so many years

Sorry Elizabeth, what a pain in the bum!

I'd give the GRO/home office a ring as AG suggests, they may be able to shed some light on the matter

I can't understand why the death certificate doesn't show the 'cause' of death but then again I've never sent for an overseas one

Just for interest -
from the newspaper "South Africa", 1920:

The Beira Portland Cement Company has been registered at Beira with a capital of £100,000 in £1 shares for the purpose of carrying on the manufacture of cement and “other products of identical composition or nature.” The chief subscribers are Reuben George HAMMERSLEY (66,662 shares) and Antonio Gaspar Dias PEREIRA (33,281 shares). The headquarters are at Beira, and the factory will be at Silluvo Hills (Chiruvo Hills) in the circumscription of Neves Ferreira.

I wonder if Margaret's and her father-in-law's deaths are linked in some way? They both appear to have died in 1926, going by their YOB's and ages at death, as posted above.

(But the letter from Beira was dated 1929 ??).

Maybe just coincidence.

You could contact the GRO and ask them about it:

Dear Gins,

I cannot thank you enough for your help in this matter and previous matters
you have helped with. I got the death certificate but was very disappointed there was no cause of death which is what we have been trying to find out for years,
however it states letter no 501785 dated 27 June 1929 from secretary
general of Mozambique company (beira file 5/29) this was from the informant
who I assume is the husband

I was wondering if there was any way I could see or get a copy of this letter.

Thank you

Elizabeth

Hi everyone,
I am trying to find out how my aunt Margaret died and if possible a death
certificate..

It has been a family mystery for years and nobody knows

She died in Beira Mozambique 1925/6. She was born in Glasgow in 1901
and was married to Sidney hammersley.

I know this is a long shot but will be very grateful if anyone can help
Elizabeth
