I'm throwing this one in for Thomas to look at later (I have to go out shortly)- I did check his father was Thomas (and deceased obviously):

Ages on marriage certificate Thomas 24, bachelor residing at Cross hands ( I can't make out the name of the house - possibly Llanmouth) and Mgt was age 22 and residing abergwili (?)Carmarthen.

Dmjs

Dmjs Report 20 Jul 2016 10:52

Mgt G Evans father was Henry Evans (deceased by 1912 and occ. farmer). I found a marriage record for Lucy Lewis and Henry Evans in 1888. There is also a census 1891 that looks likely.
It is interesting that the newspaper link that was suggested earlier, records the bankruptcy of Thomas James, outfitter, trading as Thomas James Lewis. I'm trying not to jump to conclusions this time!

Dmjs

Dmjs Report 20 Jul 2016 10:43

Yes there is Chris. The marriage certificate for Thomas James and Margaret Gwendoline Evans 1912 name witnesses as William Evans, David John Evans and Emily (can't read middle name) Lewis.

Dmjs

Dmjs Report 20 Jul 2016 07:33

Well it would seem that I was right off track so I am back to basics. I am sorry to have wasted your time.
I have the correct Henry David Thomas James born July 1913 in Cross hands, Carmarthen - parents Thomas James, occ. outfitter and Margaret Gwendoline Evans. They married in 1912 and both fathers were deceased at that time and both occupations were farmers (No sign of any Calvinist ministers!) Thomas James was also the name of Thomas's father - no mention of the middle name John anywhere.

I'm away to get a fresh piece of paper and start again ??

Dmjs

Dmjs Report 7 Jul 2016 07:45

I have Henry James on 1939 but not Mgt Gwendoline Evans. There are too many and I don't know her age, whether she married again or when she died. I have been told that Thomas James (Henry's dad and Mgts husband) died during WW1 but I am yet to find anything that I know for sure relates to him.

I have received Henry's birth certificate which is the one you have referenced above. I have also sent for the marriage certificate above but I think it will be another week before I receive it. It's taking about three weeks to get certificates to Australia.
