Birth certs of illigitimate children

Hi
I am posting for a friend who has her Mothers birth cert. The father is not named but I cannot find the birth being recorded anywhere. How were illegitimate children recorded in 1918. I have the date and month and place.

Hi Margaret

If there is a birth certificate, then surely the birth had to have been registered.

If you would care to give us her name and where she was born, we can take a look to see if we can find anything.

To issue a cert there has to be a record in the indexes. If no father is shown, then the birth name and mothers maiden name will be the same. If you care to post details then helpers here can try to help.

Hi
It's Hazel Helen Jeudwine, no fathers name but Mother was Hadfield. DOB 18/11/1918 in Middlesborough sub district Middlesborough East.

There are no births registered with the christian name of "Jeudwine"

"Jeudwine" is actually a surname......so perhaps her fathers surname was Jeudwine ?
