Hiya in answer to your question if this helps James Fleming is described as a Rigger at Shipyard (deceased) on Mary Frances Fleming's marriage license to Richard Henry Nelson. I'm starting to conclude the Irish line may be incorrect as GRONI shows nothing for her at all.

Laird

Laird Report 6 Aug 2016 23:09

It's been suggested that Mary Frances Fleming daughter of James Fleming was born in Cork, Southern Ireland but when I visited the GRONI web site she does not appear to exist. There is no birth record for her at all.

How very strange as I can definitely confirm her death and marriage and the death certificate states her birthday as 17th August 1894...

I'll try another approach. Perhaps if I can locate her father's marriage license on GRONI that will confirm the mother!

Yes according to the 1939 register your Mary F was born 17th August- this means (as Shirley said) that the Cockermouth birth can't be yours as is was registered in the first quarter of the year.

A tree on Ancestry has her birth as 17 Aug 1894 • County Cork, Southern Ireland
No idea if this is correct, but worth investigating

Do you have the marriage certificate for Mary Frances and Richard Nelson?

What was the address given for Mary and what was her father's occupation?

I went ahead today and ordered my great grandfather Richard Henry Nelson's birth certificate today from the Stockton Registry and lol they asked me if I knew the mother's name! I explained that was the reason I was ordering the birth certificate in the first place :-)

The last one to track down is my great grandmother's birth certificate so that I can ascertain her maiden name too.

Thank you for all your help peeps :-)

That cockermouth birth can't be right for Mary as it the wrong qtr of the year for reg

The 1939 reg give a her birth as Aug so she could be reg in the sept qtr or even the Dec qtr

You have six weeks to reg the birth so end of sept would be about 5 weeks or it could be she was reg in early October so that would be the Dec qtr

Born Aug she should show as 1894 birth on the census

This looks a possibility
