But if you leave the threads you start Paul, they can sometimes help other people at a later date. Even if the names you ask about have no connection to someone else's family, the advice given can sometimes help other people to know where to look for things they may be looking for.

There is absolutely no need to delete any threads.

So taking it then, that out of other 'Threads' there was no clue as to whereabouts of James, or his 'disappearance'?...

Paul

If you start a thread about someone there is no need to delete it after a while. If you leave it you are then able to go back to it at a later date if you need any more information and anyone trying to help can see all the information you have been given without having to duplicate the research.

Divorce wouldn't have been an option in those days unless they were very rich. It wasn't that easy right up until about the 1950's.

Much more likely that if the marriage failed they just separated and went their separate ways and either lived with someone else or married bigamously.

James Holmes married to Mary Costelow in stoke 1835 -i have fully researched Marys later life up to 1891 - im interested in James she was 21 when they married dont know how old he was but at some point she left him -between 1835 and 1850 - in 1851 shes with Joseph Emery -Russell st Longton i know all that - can find no burial for James -or a Death registered -jail ? he just Dissapeared - just seems strange they never Divorced -as she had 3 further children with Mr Emery one of whom was my g.grandfather.
