There are several George H Smiths of that age in Yorkshire. You may need to give a bit more detail.

Was Ethel his wife? when did they marry? Did they have any children?

I found George Smith no middle name, married Ethel Pickles in Keighley 1931
Son Kenneth born Keighley 1934 but cannot find them in 1939 in that area.
I am having problems with my laptop so finding it difficult to post transcriptions.

So many George and Ethel Smiths in Yorkshire. If George had enlisted, I'm not sure that he would appear on the register with Ethel. Also if they were still alive in 1991, their records may still be closed if a definite death is not attributed to the entries. Is Their son still alive please? Do you have any idea when and where they died please?

An exact DOB may help I.e. Day, month and year would help as the register can be searched using a name and exact date of birth - useful when searching for fairly common names especially with only a county to go on.


Do you have the marriage certificate please? Is that how you know they were both born in 1909? If you have the certificate, what was George's occupation please?
