Assuming the marriage took place somewhere in NI, I would guess that the only place to check would be Public Record Office Of Northern Ireland (PRONI)

2 Titanic Boulevard, Titanic Quarter, Belfast, BT3 9HQ

Records are too recent Stephen. They will be closed.
Only marriages over 75yrs old and births over 100yrs old are available.

Is this what you mean....

As far as you know, Margaret Woodside was previously unmarried but had a child named Joseph born circa 1947-1950 and she later married your grandfather?

Had a look on Groni and it's a long shot as only marriges that took place over 75yrs ago are on the index.
There is one potential marriage between:

Margaret Woodside and Joseph Teale who married in Newtonabbey on 20 Mar 1942

Or have I misunderstood your OP?

Try to find any Woodside family's living now in and around the :- Down Patrick, Shrigley, Crossgar area.

My granddad Robert Umney (Bob) married at sometime a Margaret Woodside of that area, not find the marriage been told it was in Ireland but cannot find anything is there anybody that can help me.

I have been told that Margaret Woodside had a child before marrying Robert, a Joseph surname not known. (born around 1947-1950) in Ireland.

Nobody in my family no when they were married.

Many thanks
