Thanks everyone for your replies. I hadn't realised that they'd been in the workhouse.

I will look for deaths between 1851 and 1860 for Thomas. I have tried looking for a baptism for him but I can't narrow it down as I don't know where he was born.

Thomas's age on marriage was 19 so c1820. It's very frustrating not finding him in 1841.

I'm struggling to find the following family in the 1841 Census and would really appreciate a little help. I've checked trees on Ancestry but no one appears to have the 1841 census.

Thomas Allsop c1820
Ann Allsop 1820 Hanbury, Staffs
Charles Allsop 1840 birth regd Tamworth Staffs

Surname spelt Alsop/Allsop/Allsopp

I don't know where Thomas is from or how to identify him in census records as the only record I have for him is his marriage to Ann. His father was named as Thomas and witnesses were Anns brother John Vernon and a Jacob Bannister.

Thomas and Ann were married on 20th November 1839 in Hanbury. I don't know how long they were together but Ann was with Samuel Pegg in 1851 listed as lodger and they had a baby daughter, Elizabeth. They were in Hanbury and both shown as married.
