hi
can anyone find James Pilling Jones and Margaret comstive travelling to France from around 1834 to 1843.? They married in clitheroe I think, around 1834.They had child William Jones in France in 1843. They eventually returned to the UK and I yhink James Jones who was a, mechanic died in Yorkshire around 1851. I think they were on the census in 1851 in Yorkshire but did move back towards burnley as William Jones married hannah duxbury nee Smith around 1880 in Burnley possibly. William Jones died in 1891 in Burnley but Margaret also died in Burnley but I'm not sure what year. :-)

just to add. Margaret Jones nee comstive married again in 1860 to Joseph or John Lee in Burnley in the Catholic Church. So she woukd have been Margaret Lee on her death. :-)

I may be wrong, but I don't think there are any records for travel to France at that time

Thankyou. yes I've used but not seen that Thankyou x Margaret Lee nee comstive formerly Jones died in 1862 so wasn't married to Mr Lee long. Think it looks like Joseph Lee but I'm not sure as the Latin is sometimes different. I've found a whole heap of comstive graves but I'm struggling to discover when and why they went to France and when they came back. Maybe I'll never know but just wondering if there was a way to find out when or how they travelled. Perhaps got a job in a garage in France. I'm also trying to find out more about James Pilling Jones. They married in clitheroe so I'm assuming they lived closer to the pafiham, area of burnley, reedley hallows was an area heading out of burnley, one way clitheroe, the other pendle. Ill try to find them on the 1841 but they may already have gone to France by then :-D

It seems that he only used "Pilling" when he married, but we can gauge his date of birth from his age on here, ie ca 1817

thanks for thst, I coujdnt find Margaret on the 1841 or 1861 so thanks for that. Msybe then James Pilling Jones had already gone to France ahead of Margaret and she joined him later as she had given birth to William around 1843 :-)

Shirley

Shirley Report 3 Feb 2023 22:33

I think rosina Jones was probably daughter of Alice who was 21 and not yet married. On lancs bmd it has mother's maiden name as Jones so I think there's a chance it's Alice whose mother. :-)

Shirley

Shirley Report 3 Feb 2023 22:41

there's an update to rosina Jones. Definstely daughter of Margaret who had her with a Thomas irelith? Born out of wedlock before she married Joseph Lee in 1860.

At least Thomas seems to have acknowledged the child!

I doubt you'll find baptism images anywhere other than the Records Office

Wouldn’t it be worth asking for help from the Lancashire OPC - website given by Sylvia near the beginning of this thread.

Family Search, which some of the above records come from, may have copies of the register.

There is no record anywhere - other than on the baptism - for the name Thomas Irelith, as I’m sure you’ve discovered
